Residents Break Free
Residents of the Bouliste Apartments in Northcote, Melbourne has successfully broken free of a 25 year embedded network contract after threatening to take the operator to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
The contract had been executed by the property’s developer prior to owners taking possession in 2014.
The Owners Corporation obtained a unanimous resolution from lot owners to challenge the embedded network agreement and the operator elected to release the Owners Corporation without further challenge.
South Street is proud to have been selected by the residents as their new embedded network
service provider.
Under the new arrangements residents will see an immediate reduction in their electricity bills, each saving an average $400 a year compared to the previous operator’s rates; and each saving $200 a year in comparison to residential rates, less pay-on-time discounts, available from major retailers.
South Street undertook all aspects of the transition, novating the existing electricity retail contract for the apartment complex, coordinating final bills with the previous operator and arranging to exchange the previous operator’s electricity meters with market compliant smart meters.
Bouliste Apartment residents are now free to shop among electricity retailers for market offers if dissatisfied with their electricity rates.
